Professor Judge Mervyn King to give keynote at Corporate Directors Conference 2018

Posted 23 August, 2018

The IIRC Council Chair, Professor Judge Mervyn King, will be giving two key note address at the Corporate Directors Conference 2018 on Tuesday 18 September 2018 in Kuala Lumpur.

Speaking on the subject, ‘value creation in the era of seismic disruption’, King will consider how the audit profession has reached a tipping point, arguing that without significant innovation in its business model, staff recruitment strategies and audit execution processes, the audit profession may not remain relevant in the 21st century.

In the afternoon, King will discuss ‘value creation imperatives’, and the imperative for corporate boards to identify and optimise the limited capital resources entrusted to them to govern as fiduciaries in a holistic manner. He will urge boards to embrace an integrated value creation strategy to govern the capital assets entrusted to them to create long-term sustainable business, including human, intellectual, natural, manufactured and social capital.

The conference aims to enlighten stakeholders to enable them to gain greater understanding of the challenges and threats faced by the audit profession, which in turn could disrupt the capital market and affect businesses across the board.
