Mark Hucklesby

Director of Financial Reporting

Mark Hucklesby is Director of Financial Reporting and the Global IFRS leader for Grant Thornton. In this London-based role he monitors and coordinates responses to various standard setters and regulatory bodies on a wide variety of accounting and assurance matters. He is currently a member of CPA Australia’s External Reporting Cantre of Excellence having been actively been involved in standard setting in New Zealand for more than 25 years. Mark is a partner in Grant Thornton New Zealand and prior to his transfer to the UK was a member of the External Reporting Board’s Technical Reference Groups supporting the issuance and deployment of accounting and assurance standards in New Zealand.

A founding member, and then for a period the Chair of XBRL International in New Zealand, Mark has always been focused on ways to efficiently and effectively provide information useful for decision making. He firmly believes systematically tagging data using well-designed and structured taxonomies ends up being the best way to deliver user-driven requests for information.

Mark is a fellow of both CPA Australia and Chartered Accountants Australia and New New Zealand. His contributions to the accounting profession in New Zealand have included being actively involved in the development and deployment of professional qualification programmes, being a judge in many annual reporting awards, and currently he is an author and contributor to seven books on financial reporting and assurance published by Thomson Reuters.
