Professor Nelson Carvalho

Prof. Nelson Carvalho, PhD, teaches at University of São Paulo, Brazil. He seats at various corporate Boards of listed and non-listed companies in Brazil, and is also a Board member at the NGO Foundation Sustainable Amazon, that aims at preserving the Amazon forest.

Nelson is a Board member at XBRL International Inc. and a regular member of the Sustainability Committee of the São Paulo Futures and Stock Exchange in Brazil. Besides his academic activities, Prof. Carvalho is a well-known litigation expert in accounting, auditing, banking and capital market issues. Nelson chaired the Standards Advisory Council of IASB (2005-2008) and is a member of the Brazilian Accounting Standards Board.
